ABOUT

ME

“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.”
~ Sir Winston Churchill ~

I

A 3d Artist

Hiya, my name is James Crabb, I am a BSC (HONS) Computer Games Technology Graduate from Portsmouth University, I acheived a 2:2 in my degree and a very strong 2:1 for my final year dissertation (Thesis), which was titled 'Developing Characters for Next-Generation Games' (More info below).  I undertook Fine Art at Highfield secondary school and received GCSE, AS level and A level in that subject, along with others. This gave me a traditional artistic background and foundation necessary to become a 3d artist.  I am currently looking for work within the games industry as a 3d artist, working on environment assets, characters or objects. I have a solid understanding of 3d Studio Max, Zbrush and Photoshop.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Since University I have been working at a local, well established confidential Printers, Stephen Austin & Sons, full-time. With any spare time I have enjoyed developing my portfolio and furthering my skills within a variety of 3d software packages (Zbrush in particular).

I have always worked whether that be temporary, full time or part time, whilst at school, University and since. From my CV you will see because of the variety of work and situations I have demonstrated that I can work alone or as part of a team. For more details please see my Curriculum Vitae.

Industry Experience

Whilst I was completing my final year at University, I was fortunate to get the oppurtunity to get a temporary role at Climax Games company, doing Q & A for their Facebook team Arooga. This was, although not in my desired role, it allowed me to experience and realise, that this was the environment that I want to work in. It also allowed me to understand the pipelines and development processes involved in the games industry first-hand and it allowed me to just experience a game studio working environment. Which i enjoyed greatly.
